Still making progress.... it hopefully won't be too long before I get 0.3.0 released. Remember, it's not going to be great or anything, just enough to say "Hey, RedShift is still alive." Keeping with the whole release early, release often philosophy. So watch out for that in the next few weeks. Or longer, depending on how long it takes me to make a basic menu system.

Classes are officially over, and only three finals separate me from Penn State for a good long time. First one being tomorrow afternoon. Then I'll have a good long Christmas break to kick off a load of development. Not that I haven't been doing much recently... I have XML loading pretty much down for maps, so now it's just on to setting up everything else and making the objects work together. No small task, but I think I finally know how I'm going to do it.

Of course, I may end up getting wrapped up in some of the details, but I'm going to try to get myself to release a working version 0.3.0 before doing any major optimizations. Just to get everything back going again. So 0.3.0 will be lacking a lot of details, and it might even seem like it's the same as 0.1.1, except fundamentally different code underneath. Then, once that's over with, I'll try to make 0.3.1 a lot better.

Since I used an older version of RedShift as my undergraduate thesis, I had to write an actual paper to go with it. So that sort of halted progress on version 0.3.0 for a little bit. But today, I got to turn it in and bong the gong (don't ask.) So with that out of the way, I only have a few finals and small papers between now and graduation. And once I graduate, I don't start work until May. So that means extra time for programming :)

But that doesn't mean I can't sneak a little code in here and there before then. Keep watching the subverion repo for minor updates. I'm slowly migrating 0.2.0 code over to 0.3.0 standards. Not too big of a deal, but there's a little but of translation as types are changed and the UML structure is a little different. I've learned better than to ever give an ETA for a working copy, but expect something in the early spring.

Well, RedShift finally made the move to sourceforge. Since my Penn State account will be closing soon, I decided to move it here so I could continue work and people could still download RedShift.

I'm also in a bit of a rewrite. The first version, up through 0.1.2, was a little dirty code-wise, and growing to be unmaintainable. For my second write, I decided to use C++ to see if I could clear up the confusion. That just made things worse. It's much more readable, but getting objects of different classes to work together was sketchy at best. But that was my first attempt at a true C++ project. That means (hopefully at least) third time's a charm :)
